Read the numbat source sheet aloud as a class, pausing after each section to ask "was that a fact we could use as evidence, or just an opinion?" Students call out which, building the evidence/opinion ear.
The 30-second pitch
Reframe the task as a spoken pitch rather than a poster: each group prepares a 30-second spoken appeal that must contain the issue, two pieces of evidence, and one action — using the frame "We should ___ because the evidence shows ___ and ___." Groups deliver their pitch to another group, who listen for whether the evidence actually backs the action.
