"Let's build numbers with our paws — I mean, our hands!" says Biscuit. Cut out the gumnut pieces, then use them to make big numbers and trade up.
Step 1 — Cut out your pieces
Cut carefully along every dotted line. Keep your pieces in four piles: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands.
Step 2 — Build these numbers
Lay out your pieces to show each number, then write how many of each you used.
a) 2 thousands, 4 hundreds, 3 tens, 5 ones. What number is it?
b) Build 3 608. How many of each piece? Thousands Hundreds Tens Ones
Step 3 — Trade up!
Whenever you have ten of one piece, trade them for one of the next bigger piece. Ten ones → one ten. Ten tens → one hundred.
c) Start with 15 ones. Trade up. What do you have now?
