Task 3 – Historical Inquiry: The Role and Impact of a Significant Leader

Task

Historical inquiry (Task 3). Part A: the historical inquiry process on the topic "the role and impact of a significant leader" (e.g. Hughes, Curtin, Menzies, Chifley or an activist leader), issued Week 10 and submitted Week 13. Part B: an in-class validation completed in Week 13 based on the inquiry. Official SCSA weighting: 10% of the Year 12 course (Historical inquiry type weighting 20%).

Rubric criteria (weights as a percentage of this assessment)

Perspectives, interpretations and significance 40% Evaluates the significance of the leader's role and impact, accounting for different perspectives and interpretations (Part B validation).
Explanation and communication 30% Develops a text that integrates appropriate evidence to sustain an argument about the leader's impact, acknowledging and referencing sources appropriately.
Historical questions and inquiry 30% Frames effective inquiry questions, develops a coherent research plan, and locates and organises relevant information from a range of primary and secondary sources on the chosen leader.
