Task 1 – Historical Inquiry: Internal Divisions and Crises in Russian Society

Task

Historical inquiry (Task 1). Part A: the historical inquiry process, with the topic "Internal divisions and crises in Russian society", focusing on the causes and events of the February and October Revolutions of 1917 (issued Week 2, submitted Week 4). Part B: an in-class validation source analysis completed in 35 minutes in Week 4; source material from Part A may be used. Official SCSA weighting: 10% of the Year 12 course (Historical inquiry type weighting 20%).

Explanation and communication 30% Develops a text that integrates appropriate evidence to explain the past and sustain an argument, acknowledging and referencing sources appropriately.
Historical questions and inquiry 30% Frames effective inquiry questions, develops a coherent research plan, and locates and organises relevant information from a range of primary and secondary sources.
