Visual: build and read the diagrams

Lean on the lesson's strong visuals — the layered Earth, the volcano cross-section and the Ring of Fire map — and have students build their own.

Label-as-you-learn

Give students a blank cross-section of the Earth and a blank volcano outline. As each part is introduced, they label and colour it, building their own reference diagram in step with the deck's animated volcano. The act of colour-coding the magma chamber, vent and crust embeds the structure.

Read the Ring of Fire map

Spend extra time on the world map: students trace the horseshoe of markers with a finger or highlighter and annotate why the dots cluster at plate edges. Reading the spatial pattern is the core skill here.
