Everything you need to remember

Before we begin, let's pin up everything you'll need. Keep this in mind as you watch each change.

Signs a NEW substance has formed

a gas is produced (bubbles, fizzing)
a colour change
heat or light is given off
a new material appears (ash, rust)

The two types of change

Reversible: same substance, can be undone (melting, dissolving).
Irreversible: new substance, can't be undone (burning, cooking).

Warm-up: name the four signs from memory with a partner — then check against the list above.
