Tables, and which graph to use

First, get your results into a clear, titled table. Then choose the right kind of graph.

Line graph

For continuous data — numbers that change smoothly, like length, time or temperature.

Bar graph

For categories — separate groups, like material types or animal names.

Common mix-up: use a line graph only when both axes are numbers that flow. Foil length vs brightness = line graph. Different materials = bar graph.
