Use spoken description of the data and discussion of fairness to drive the analysis.
Say the trend aloud
Before writing anything, students describe their graph's shape to a partner in a sentence: "As the foil got longer, the globe got dimmer." Saying the relationship in words is the bridge to a written conclusion and is exactly the success-criteria language.
Compare to prediction, out loud
Students tell their partner whether the result matched their Lesson 12 prediction and why, using the frame "I predicted ___; my results showed ___; so my prediction was/was not supported." Voicing the comparison builds the evaluation habit.
Peer explain the graph rules
Students teach a partner the "rules of a good graph" (titled axes, even scale, points, line) from memory — explaining the rules aloud reinforces them.
