Use prediction-talk and spoken comparison to build the conductor/insulator and series/parallel ideas.
Predict-aloud before testing
Before each material is tested, the group says its prediction aloud with a reason: "We think the metal spoon is a conductor because it's made of metal." Then they test and say whether they were right. Voicing the reason builds the metal-equals-conductor generalisation.
Talk the difference
Students explain series vs parallel to a partner using a "what happens if" frame: "In a series circuit, if one globe goes out, then ___. In a parallel circuit, if one goes out, then ___." Hearing the contrast spoken cements it.
Spoken exit ticket
Students name one conductor and one insulator and where each is useful (copper wire and its plastic coating) to a partner — said aloud before written.
