Kinesthetic: be the variables

Turn the abstract "change / measure / keep the same" idea into something students do with their bodies and hands before they write anything down.

Instead of the ramp think-aloud

Run the ramp as a real, physical investigation with a long board and a toy car. Give three students living roles: one is the Changer (raises or lowers the ramp), one is the Measurer (marks where the car stops with a sticky note), and the rest "keep the same" by checking nobody alters the car or gives it a push. Run it twice at different heights and let the Measurer's sticky notes show the difference.

Instead of the whiteboard scenarios

Use a "four corners" sort. Read out a variable from a scenario (e.g. "the brand of paper towel") and students walk to the corner labelled CHANGE, MEASURE, or KEEP THE SAME. Mis-steps become teaching moments — ask a student who moved to explain why.
