  1. Reading & Writing Big Numbers Biscuit introduces numbers to tens of thousands using bundles of gumnuts (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands) by the hollow log. Reading, writing and saying large numbers.
  2. Partitioning, Ordering & Odd/Even Numbers Partitioning, rearranging and regrouping numbers to assist calculation; ordering numbers; sorting gumnuts into odd and even piles to investigate their properties. Hosted by Biscuit.
  3. Adding Up to Four Digits Mental and written strategies for adding whole numbers up to four digits (split/jump strategies, adding tens then ones). Biscuit and friends gather gumnuts and combine the piles.
  4. Subtraction Strategies Subtraction strategies up to four digits, including the relationship between addition and subtraction (counting on, take away from the pile). Hosted by Biscuit with Patch the Ball for take-away games.
  5. Shopping at the Bush Stall: Money & Change Money problems: working out purchases and calculating change to the nearest five cents at the Hollow's pretend bush stall. Hosted by Biscuit and Mae.
  6. Times Tables & Arrays Recalling multiplication facts to 10x10 and related division facts using arrays of gumnuts and stars; multiples of 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9. Pip lays out star arrays; Biscuit drills the facts as games.
  7. Bigger Multiplication & Sharing Equally Multiplying two-digit numbers and dividing whole numbers by one-digit numbers with no remainder, using efficient strategies (doubling, distributive). Sharing gumnuts equally into burrows. Hosted by Biscuit and Bo.
  8. Number Patterns & Missing Numbers Describing multiplicative number patterns and finding unknown quantities in addition/subtraction number sentences; identifying equivalent number sentences. Pip spots patterns in the night sky; Ollie poses 'what's missing?' puzzles.
  9. Fair Shares: Equivalent Fractions on a Number Line Equivalent fractions and counting by halves, quarters and thirds (including mixed numerals), locating them on a number line. Mae shares bush fruit into equal parts; Pip marks fractions along a line of stars.
  10. From Fractions to Decimals Extending place value to tenths and hundredths; connecting fractions to decimal notation. Mae and Ollie show how one whole shared into ten and a hundred becomes 0.1 and 0.01.
  11. Measuring Length, Mass, Capacity & Area Using scaled instruments to measure and compare length, mass and capacity; comparing area with informal units. Bo measures burrow depths and creek widths with the trusty spade and paw-lengths.
  12. Telling Time: Units, am/pm & Duration Converting between units of time, using am/pm notation and solving simple time and duration problems. Ollie tracks the sun and seasons over the Hollow to mark the time of day.
  13. Shapes & Angles in the Clearing Combining and splitting common 2D shapes to make new ones; comparing angles relative to a right angle. Ollie uses the Looking Glass to examine leaf and rock shapes around the clearing.
  14. Collecting & Graphing Data Collecting categorical/discrete data and representing it in many-to-one pictographs and column graphs. The friends survey favourite gumnut colours and graph the results. Hosted by Pip (sorting) and Ollie (interpreting).
  15. Chance: Likely, Unlikely & Experiments Ordering the likelihood of chance events and running repeated chance experiments, describing variation in results. The friends predict and test which gumnut is drawn from Biscuit's basket. Hosted by Ollie.
