Today we become scientists and investigate freeze–thaw — how water breaks solid rock. 🧊🪨
Step 1: Here's the science. Water gets into a crack, freezes and expands, pushing the crack wider.
Step 2: Our sealed container of water is a pretend "rock". We will put it in the freezer.
To keep it a fair test:
Change: the temperature (freeze it). Measure: how the container changes. Keep the same: container size, amount of water, time in freezer.
Your turn, scientists! 🔬
- Write your question and prediction.
- Fill your container, seal it and put it in the freezer.
- Next time, observe what happened and compare it to your prediction.
- Use the Fair Test Investigation Template.
